Pre-Stud Book (Vorbuch)

The Pre-Stud Book or Vorbuch has recently been re-introduced to Australia and all daughter societies by direction of the Verband.

To be eligible for the Pre-studbook or Vorbuch, the mare must have two licensed and performance tested approved Hanoverian sires directly in the pedigree with the remaining pedigree being of acceptable breeding (no cold-blooded horses, no quarter horse, stock horse, pony or coloured breed of any kind).

The mare must then be classified with a total score of no less than 7.

The mare will then be issued with a breeding certificate.  Progeny of this mare by licensed and performance tested approved Hanoverian stallions can be entered into the studbook.
Progeny from this breeding again by licensed, performance tested Hanoverian stallions, can be classified into the Main Stud Book.

The progeny of Pre Stud Book mares by licensed, performance tested Hanoverian stallions still receive the Hanoverian birth brand and registration, however, female progeny will only be considered for the Stud Book and a Pre Stud Book mare cannot be the mother of a stallion.

Please contact the registrar for any further information or clarification.
